Rio Tinto Iron Ore Mine Site Tour

Home to one of the world’s richest iron ore deposits mined by Rio Tinto, this one of a kind experience takes you behind the scenes of one of the world’s largest open cut mines for a 2 hour tour.


• Viewing of the Haul Truck and Heavy Machinery workshop area
• Visit a lookout to see the enormous pit
• View trucks, shovels and drills, a decommissioned shovel, the crushing and screening plants and train load out area
• Visit the main pit area
• Detailed commentary provided by an expert local guide
• Air-conditioned coach or bus
• Pick up and drop off at Tom Price Visitor Centre
• Safety helmet and safety glasses are supplied

Fully enclosed shoes, long pants and long sleeved shirts are required for this tour.

Safety Information

As this is an active mine site, access to some areas may be restricted, depending on conditions.

Child Policy

All children under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an Adult

Adults are 18 years and over

Students are 5 to 17 years

Infants & children under 5 years old are not permitted on this tour, due to mine operation regulations.
