Nestled deep in the Hamersley Ranges at the base of the towering Mount Nameless in the
Pilbara region of Western Australia, is the town of Tom Price; home to one of the world’s richest Iron Ore deposits. The mine, managed by Rio Tinto is one of the largest open cut mines in the world.
Our tour begins at the Tom Price Visitor Centre where guests are issued with safety
glasses and a hard hat in preparation for a unique mine experience. All guests are treated to air-conditioned comfort and full commentary en-route to the mine. We visit a lookout at the main pit and view the enormous Haul Trucks at work, travel through the process plant and onto the train load out area.
Your guide will provide interesting commentary throughout the tour, providing an overview of the large scale operation from taking the ore out of the ground, through the crusher and along the conveyors to loading into the massive carts on some of the longest trains in the world.Child Policy:
Children are aged 3 to 13 years and must be accompanied by an Adult
14 and over are classed as Adults
Infants under 3 years are free
Infants & children are required to wear fully enclosed shoes (new born can wear socks as they will not be getting off the bus), a helmet and safety glasses, if they are unable to do this then they are required to stay on the bus with an adult when others get off the bus at the viewing platform. (If you have a bike helmet for your child/infant you can use this as their safety helmet).
